On March 2nd, 2020, the Faculty of Science Mahidol University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Palangpon Kongsaeree, Dean of the Faculty of Science, together with staff and students, attended the ceremony "51st Anniversary of the Royal Bestowal of Mahidol University’s Name and 131st Anniversary of Mahidol University", which took place at the Office of the President, Mahidol University, Salaya campus. The event aimed to commemorate the history of Mahidol University since the foundation of Siriraj Hospital in 1888, which later developed into the University of Medicine. HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great bestowed the name “Mahidol”, after the name of HRH Prince Mahitala Dhibesra Adulyadej Vikrom, Prince Father, which has become the official name of the university on March 2nd, 1969.
The morning activities included laying a tray with pedestal to pay respect to the statute of HRH Prince Mahidol and viewing of an exhibition on the history of Mahidol University. This was followed by the "11th Honorable Professor Chuchawal Osatananda Keynote Lecture" entitled "The Adjustment of the University in the Disruption Era", delivered by the Senator, Clinical Professor Emeritus Udom Kachintorn, MD. This keynote lecture has significantly pointed out the importance of a paradigm shift in education in the disruptive era.
The afternoon session was the award ceremony. On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Palangpon Kongsaeree in conjunction with Associate Professor Dr. Rutaiwan Tohtong, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication jointly congratulated the 10 awardees from the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University who won several outstanding awards including:
