Professor
Dr. Amaret Bhumiratana was born
in Bangkok on July 24, 1948. After
completing primary education in Thailand
he went to the USA to study at Chowchilla
High School (1966), and received a
B.S. in Bacteriology from the University
of California at Davis (1970), and
a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Michigan
State University (1974). Subsequently,
he has become a staff member at the
Faculty of Science, Mahidol University.
There Professor Dr. Amaret Bhumiratana
has been involved in teaching, conducting
research and guiding students at both
the undergraduate and graduate levels.
He was promoted to a professorship
in Biotechnology in 1990 and was awarded
as Outstanding Scientist Award in
1992 by the Foundation for the Promotion
of Science and Technology.
Dr. Bhumiratana's research interests
are in two major areas, namely, the
physiology and genetics of Bacillus
thuringiensis, and the microbiology
of soybean fermentation. He has published
over fifty articles in international
journals and has supervised eighteen
doctoral and master's degrees students.
