Assoc. Prof.Palangpon Kongsaeree, Dean of Faculty of Science, Mahidol University led the executive team to welcome Clinical Prof. Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, M.D., Chair of the Mahidol University Council, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D., Acting President of Mahidol University, and members of Mahidol University council to learn about the past achievements and the future plans on January 28th, 2020, at Chalermprakiat Building, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Phaya Thai Campus.
The Faculty of Science (MUSC) has published about 400 peer-reviewed papers annually, in reputed journals, and there has been an increase in the number of papers in top-tier (first quartile) journals. Many faculty members have received both national and international honors and recognitions. Going forward, the Faculty of Science aims to promote transfer of knowledge and technology to the society.
The strategic plan and objectives for fiscal year 2020 – 2021 are as follows:
1) To develop Science and Technology curricula that produce human resources with internationally recognized research skill or entrepreneurial skills;
2) To promote ‘Platform-to-Platform’ research and develop researchers, faculty and staff to be recognized as global laureates;
3) To drive a digital transformation for MUSC operation management;
4) To establish ‘MUSC solutions’ for efficient research collaborations with the private sectors and transfer knowledge to the society for the well-being of mankind;
5) To establish and drive a master plan for facility and environment management in 2021, to achieve the Thailand Quality Award in 2022.
On this occasion, Clinical Prof. Emeritus Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn and Prof.Banchong Mahaisavariya presided over the opening of the ‘Botanical Art Illustration’, a scientific exhibition located in the hallway, Office of the Dean, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, featuring 18 Botanical illustrations from renowned artists and faculty members of the Department of Plant Science.
