The Center of Calcium and Bone research, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University held a special lecture entitled “Cystic Fibrosis : Restoring function to faulty channels with small molecules”

A special lecture entitled “Cystic Fibrosis: Restoring function to faulty channels with small molecules” was given by Prof.David Sheppard, School of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience, University of Bristol, UK on January 15, 2020 at Department of Physiology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University. The event was well attended by the staffs and students from Faculty of Science, Mahidol University.

Prof.Sheppard is investigating the function of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), a defective protein present in cystic fibrosis, aiming to use it as a target for developing new drug therapies for cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. The Center of Calcium and Bone research, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University has a strong research collaboration with Prof. Sheppard, and will continue to investigate the relationship between CFTR function and calcium transport. The project is supported by “The International Research Network (IRN)” from the Thailand Research Fund, and by Newton Fund-TRF.
