The Visit of Delegation from University of Technology of Sydney

On 7 December 2018, Assistant Professor Somkid Amornsamankul, Deputy Dean for Administration, welcomed Dr. Alison Ung, Director of South East Asia Programs, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Technology, Sydney. Also join the session were Associate Professor Dakrong Pissuwan, Associate Professor Kititat Subannajui and Associate Professor Chutima Kuhakarn.

The Visit of Delegations from Faculty of Natural Science, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology

Closer Collaboration with University of Sussex

On 18 October 2018, Assoc. Prof. Sittiwat Lertsiri, Dean, Assoc. Prof. Wannapong Traimpo, Chair of Bioinnovation program, Dr. Napassorn Punyasuk, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication, together with Dr. Tatpong Tulyananda, Secretary of Bioinnovation program, welcomed Prof. Stephen Shute, Pro-Vice-Chancellor with lead for international, Mrs. Leina Shi, Head of Global Engagement and Prof. Daniel Osorio, Deputy head of the School of Life Sciences at Faculty of Science, Phayathai Campus. The purpose is to discuss about 2+2 Double Degree Program of Biomedical Science and Bioinnovation (MUSC) + Ecology, Conservation and Environment (Sussex), as well as, to seek for feasibility in academic and research collaboration. Moreover, Prof. Daniel Osorio had an opportunity to visit Faculty of Science, Salaya Campus on 19 Octomber 2019.

The 2nd CU-MU Joint Symposium

During 11-12 October 2018, Assoc. Prof. Kanyaratt Supaibulwatana, Vice Dean, led a group of MU delegates, to pay an official courtesy call at Chiba University, Japan. Prof. Seiichi Sakurai, Vice Dean, Graduate School of Horticulture, Chiba University, together with Prof. Michiko Takagaki, Deputy Vice President, and lecturers of Graduate School of Horticulture welcomed MU delegates at Chiba University, Matsudo Campus on 11 October 2018, in the morning. In this fundamental discussion, MU and CUHORT has mutually agreed to continue its student exchange program (DDP program & short visit) and research collaboration, as well as, CUHORT proposed for possibility using office space at the collaborative research center, MUSC.

The Graduation Ceremony of Mahidol University

On 19th September 2018, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on behalf of His Majesty the King, conferred degrees at Mahidol University Graduation Ceremony for Academic Year 2017. Professor Emeritus Toyoki Kozai recieved Honorary Degree of Philosophy in Plant Science for Academic Year 2017, at Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

The Presentation of Academic Gowns to the Honorary Doctorate Degree recipients & Congratulatory Reception

On 18th September 2018, Professor Emeritus Toyoki Kozai, along with other 7 Honorary Doctorate Degree Recipients were distributed the Academic gown by Professor Banchong Mahaisavariya, Acting President of Mahidol University, on the occasion of the Academic gown Presentation ceremony for Academic Year 2017, at Aditayathorn Building, Mahidol University International College, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.

Cultural Learning Program 2018

On September 12th, 2018, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University (MUSC) through its Office of International Cooperation held an activities called ‘Cultural Learning Program’ for international students at Museum Siam, Bangkok. The goal is to enhance international students’ participatory learning Thai culture through various the activity and to strengthen relationship among MUSC’s international students.

International Symposium on Neuroscience and Global Health 2018

On 8th August 2018, Assoc. Prof. Thanakorn Osotchan, Deputy Dean for Research, MUSC, warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. Med. Ole Petter Ottersen, Vice-Chancellor (President) of Karlolinska Institute (KI), Stockholm, Sweden, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, Professor in Medicine and head of the Laboratory of Molecular, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Reidun Torp, Professor, University of Oslo, in an occasion of their lecture in the International Symposium on Neuroscience and Global Health 2018, organized by Mahidol University, University of Oslo and Royal Thai Embassy of Oslo, Norway. Also joined the section are Mr. Prasittiporn Wetprasit, the ambassador of Thailand to Norway, and Mr. Supachoke Yensuang, Counsellor, Royal Thai Embassy on Oslo.

On 5th March 2018, Assoc. Prof. Kanyaratt Supaibulwatana, Vice Dean of Faculty of Science, warmly welcomed Dr. Yoshihiro Kizawa, Trustee of Osaka University, and delegation from Osaka University at the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Phaya Thai Campus, to discuss on recent research strength, staff exchange, and additional joint collaboration on further education and research. The discussion was also joined by MUSC’s key administrators and involved researchers, consisting of Prof. Watanalai Panbangred, an outstanding researcher from the Department of Biotechnology, Assoc. Nobel Laureate Lecture By Professor Sir James Fraser Stoddart, a Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2016

On the 12th of February 2018, Mahidol University students, faculty members and staff had the opportunity to learn from a special lecture by Sir James Frasier Stoddart, Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University, USA, and Nobel Prize laureate. Sir James was welcomed to the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, by Clin. Prof. Udom Kachintorn, former President of Mahidol University, now Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Education, Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, Acting President, and Assoc. Prof. Sittiwat Lertsiri, Dean of the Faculty of Science.

Euro Asian Collaboration for Enhancing STEM Education (EASTEM) an Official Visit to MUSC of EASTEM’s Representative, Uppsala University, Sweden

The Faculty of Science, Mahidol University participated in the Euro-Asian Collaboration for Enhancing STEM Education (EASTEM) Project, hosted by Uppsala University, Sweden. The project aims to develop teaching and learning STEM in higher education in Thailand as an expected participating country. In this connection, the Faculty of Science leading by Dean Sittiwat Lertsiri and Vice Dean Kanyaratt Supaibulwatana, Assoc. Prof. Wanapong Triampo together with Assoc. Prof. Eakasith Somsook have jointly given a welcome and discussion with Mr. Fredrik Berggren, a Representative of EASTEM, Uppsala University, on 16 January 2018 during 10.30 am. - 04.00 pm.
