Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Hosts “Mahidol Science Cultural Exchange: Songkran Festival 2026” to Foster Cross-Cultural Understanding and Strengthen International Connections

On April 7, 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, through its Global Partnerships and International Programs Division, organized the “Mahidol Science Cultural Exchange: Songkran Festival 2026” at the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Phayathai Campus, to promote intercultural learning, celebrate Thai and international traditions, and strengthen relationships among Thai and international students and staff. The event featured a traditional Yein dance performance by Myanmar student representatives during the traditional water-pouring ceremony for senior faculty, the “Weaving Bonds through Garland-Making” cultural workshop, international food booths featuring Myanmar and Thai festive desserts, and online Songkran activities, all designed to foster cultural understanding and reinforce the Faculty’s international academic community.

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Hosts the Knowledge Sharing Session “Student Experiences from Participation in the Beihang International Summer School Program” to Strengthen Students’ Global Competencies

On April 1, 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, through its Global Partnerships and International Programs Division, hosted an online Knowledge Sharing Session, “Student Experiences from Participation in the Beihang International Summer School Program,” to promote international learning opportunities and prepare students for global academic engagement. Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Tana Taechalertpaisarn, Assistant Dean for International Partnerships and Information Management, while Dr. Tatpong Tulyananda, Lecturer from the School of Bioinnovation and Bio-based Product Intelligence, introduced Beihang University, the summer school program, and collaborative space agriculture research. Experience-sharing presentations were given by Dr. Kakanang Tantraphongsathon, Researcher from the Plant Biology and Astrobotany Laboratory, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University; Mr. Premwit Ketkaew from the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University; and Mr. Pirakarn You from the Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO). The session also included a brief presentation by the Global Partnerships and International Programs Division on Student Mobility funding opportunities, alongside scholarship information on cooperation with China presented by Professor Jitladda Sakdapipanich, Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, to support participants in pursuing future international study and research opportunities.

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Welcomes Delegation from National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech), Taiwan, to Strengthen International Academic and Research Collaboration

On 27 March 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, welcomed a delegation from the College of Engineering, National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech), Republic of China (Taiwan), led by Prof. Chi-Ching Kuo, Dean of the College of Engineering, for discussions on strengthening international academic and research collaboration in student and staff exchanges, joint graduate programs, collaborative research, and future institutional agreements; the delegation was received by Associate Professor Dr. Pasit Pakawatpanurut, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation; Dr. Rapee Boonplueang, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Dr. Tana Taechalertpaisarn, Assistant Dean for International Partnerships and Information Management; Associate Professor Dr. Tienthong Thongpanchang, Head of the Department of Chemistry; and Associate Professor Dr. Dakrong Pissuwan, Head of the School of Materials Science and Innovation, with the visit featuring laboratory tours, collaborative meetings, and an information session in which the Taipei Tech delegation introduced graduate study and internship opportunities at Taipei Tech to undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty of Science.

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Welcomes Delegation from The University of Osaka under Spring Short-term Overseas Training Program

On 12 March 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, led by Dr. Tana Taechalertpaisarn, Assistant Dean for International Partnerships and Information Management, and Associate Professor Dr. Patompong Johns Saengwilai, Chair of the Bachelor of Science Program in Bioresources and Environmental Biology (International Program), Department of Biology, welcomed a delegation from The University of Osaka, Japan. The delegation was led by Professor Kiyoshi Fujita, Director of the Center for International Affairs, Graduate School of Engineering; Assistant Professor Junko Kimura, Center for International Affairs, Graduate School of Engineering; Miss Ikuko Nojiri, Assistant Staff, Center for International Affairs, Graduate School of Engineering; and Special Appointed Assistant Professor Dr. Sathida Kanjamapornkul, Center for Overseas Operations, Institute for International Initiatives, along with six students. The visit included presentations on the Department of Biology, laboratory demonstrations, and a tour of the Mahidol University–Osaka University Collaborative Research Center for Bioscience and Biotechnology (MU-OU:CRC), fostering academic exchange, international collaboration, and mutual understanding between the two institutions.

On 5 March 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, welcomed a delegation from the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), Australia, at Room K102, Chalermphrakiat Building, Phaya Thai Campus, to discuss potential academic and research collaboration. The UNSW delegation was led by Associate Professor Matthew Baker, Associate Dean, International Partnerships, Faculty of Science, accompanied by Ms. Kakanang Kittikovit, Country Manager for Thailand, UNSW Division of Education & Student Experience. The delegation from the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, was led by Dr. Rapee Boonplueang, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, together with Associate Professor Dr. Pasit Pakawatpanurut, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, Dr. Tana Taechalertpaisarn, Assistant Dean for International Partnerships and Information Management, and Assistant Professor Dr. Puay Ounjai, Department of Biology, to exchange institutional information and explore future cooperation in student and staff exchanges, joint research, and academic networking between the two universities.

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Organized “Mahidol Science KM: Work Permit” to Advance Knowledge Management and Foster a Learning Organization

On 27 February 2026, the Division of Global Partnerships and International Programs, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, led by Dr. Rapee Boonplueang, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, together with Ms. Nongnuch Prasomkhum, Head of the Division of Global Partnerships and International Programs, organized the knowledge-sharing activity “Mahidol Science KM: Work Permit” at the Stang Mongkolsuk Building, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Phaya Thai Campus, to develop best practices and foster a shared understanding of work permit and visa procedures for foreign personnel, strengthen knowledge management processes, promote standardized operational practices, and enhance the efficiency of international relations services in support of foreign faculty members, researchers, and specialists.

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University Hosts “Mahidol Science Cultural Exchange: The Food of Love” to Strengthen International Community and Cultural Diversity

On 13 February 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, through its Office of International Cooperation, organized the event “Mahidol Science Cultural Exchange: The Food of Love,” at the Lecture Building, Phaya Thai Campus, bringing together international students, researchers, and staff from both Phaya Thai and Salaya Campuses to celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen international engagement. Officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Porntipa Korprasertthaworn, Deputy Dean for Finance and Procurement, the event highlighted the Faculty’s commitment to an inclusive academic environment and global integration in education and research. Under the theme “The Food of Love,” participants shared traditional dishes and cultural presentations from Pakistan, India, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand, using culinary exchange as a platform for dialogue, cross-cultural understanding, and community building within the international academic network.

On 12 February 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, led by Dr. Rapee Boonplueang, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Choowong Auesukaree, Head of the Department of Biotechnology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuttawee Niamsiri (Department of Biotechnology); Assist. Prof. Dr. Nopporn Ruangsupapichat (Department of Chemistry), and Assist. Prof. Dr. Pawaret Leowanawat (Department of Chemistry) welcomed a delegation from Universitas Airlangga, Republic of Indonesia, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dwi Kusuma Wahyuni, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology, accompanied by Prof. Pratiwi Pudjiastuti, Department of Chemistry, Assist. Prof. Dr. Iif Hanifah, Traditional Medicine Study Program; and three doctoral students, to discuss and explore academic and research collaboration in plant biodiversity, biotechnology, natural products, and organic chemistry, as well as opportunities for joint research and academic exchange; during the visit, the delegation also toured key research units, including the Mahidol University–Osaka University Collaborative Research Center for Bioscience and Biotechnology (MU–OU: CRC), the Cooperative Research Station in Southeast Asia, International Center for Biotechnology, Osaka University (OU: CRS), and the Excellent Center for Drug Discovery (ECDD), to learn about the Faculty’s research infrastructure and capabilities.

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Welcomes Scientists Attending the Joint Conference on Double Degree Program 2026 from Japan and the Republic of Korea, Showcasing Research and Science Education Capabilities

On 30 January 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, welcomed scientists from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University; the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University; Kumamoto University; and Kyungpook National University, following the Joint Conference on Double Degree Program 2026. The delegation was officially received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasit Suwannalert, Dean of the Faculty of Science, together with members of the Faculty’s executive team and department representatives. The visit featured presentations and discussions aimed at advancing multilateral collaboration, particularly in the Double Degree Program, academic mobility, and research infrastructure.

The Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, and the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University co-hosted the Joint Conference on Double Degree Program 2026 to strengthen postgraduate education and research collaboration with leading universities in Japan and the Republic of Korea

On 29 January 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, together with the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, co-hosted the Joint Conference on Double Degree Program 2026 at Mahidol University in collaboration with Kumamoto University and Kyungpook National University. The conference aimed to advance postgraduate Double Degree Programs and strengthen international research collaboration under the theme “Biomedical Synergy: Decoding the Complexity of Human Disease.”
Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Rapee Boonplueng, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, representing the Dean of the Faculty of Science. Participating faculty presenters included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornpan Matangkasombat Chupong (Department of Microbiology), Assist. Prof. Dr. Kanit Phukhai (Department of Physiology), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Badee Nuto (Department of Pharmacology). Students from the Bachelor of Science Program in Biomedical Science (International Program) also attended the conference.

On 23 January 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prasit Suwannalert, Dean of the Faculty of Science, welcomed a delegation from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), United Kingdom, led by Prof. Alex Clark, Dean for International, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and including Prof. James Busfield, Professor of Materials and Deputy Head of the School of Engineering and Materials Science; Dr. Manyi Cristofoli, Head of International Research and Innovation, Joint Research Management Office; and Assoc. Prof. Chinnapat Panwisawas, Reader in Computational Materials and Director of the Materials Science and Engineering Programme, to discuss educational and research collaboration, joint curriculum development, and future academic cooperation under the Thailand-UK TNE Exploratory Grant 2025.

On 9 January 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, hosted a delegation from the Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore (NUS), Republic of Singapore, comprising Prof. Yu ZHAO, Assistant Dean (Graduate Studies); Assoc. Prof. Zhisong WANG, Department of Physics; Assoc. Prof. Ngar Chee Gigi CHIU, Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Dr. Clarinda Nataria SUTANTO, Department of Food Science and Technology; and Ms. Wei Qi Sarah KWOK, Dean’s Office, to discuss academic and research collaboration and to conduct an Information Session introducing NUS graduate programmes, while the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, was represented by Dr. Rapee Boonplueang, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, together with international relations officers from the Office of International Cooperation, underscoring the Faculty’s commitment to international engagement and global academic development.

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University Welcomes Delegation from Stowers Institute for Medical Research, USA, Hosts Special Seminar on Regenerative Biology, and Discusses Academic and Research Collaboration

On 8 January 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, led by Dr. Nisamanee Charoenchon, Assistant Dean for International Programs, welcomed a delegation from the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, United States, and hosted a special seminar and an academic collaboration meeting at the Phayathai Campus. The seminar, titled “Understanding the Sources of Regenerative Capacity in Animals,” was delivered by Prof. Alejandro Sánchez Alvarado, President, Chief Scientific Officer, and Investigator at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. The collaboration discussions were led by Dr. Rapee Boonplueang, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pasit Pakawatpanurut, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, together with faculty representatives. The delegation from the Stowers Institute for Medical Research was represented by Prof. Alejandro Sánchez Alvarado and Dr. Ekasit Sonpho, Postdoctoral Researcher. The discussions focused on future cooperation in research, academic exchange, training, and the potential establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Faculty of Science, Mahidol University Hosts “Campus Tour Mahidol 2025–2026” to Promote Study Opportunities in France and International Academic Mobility

On 7 January 2026, the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the International Relations Division, Mahidol University, organized Campus Tour Mahidol 2025–2026 at the Phayathai Campus, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pasit Pakawatpanurut, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, to promote further study, scholarships, and academic cooperation opportunities in the French Republic. The event featured a lecture on “Studies in France and Scholarships,” including presentations on Fellowship and Mobility Programs by Dr. Ludovic Andres, Attaché for Scientific and Higher Education Cooperation, French Embassy, and Ms. Sujira Panyawattana, Student Advisor, Campus France, French Embassy, alongside a special screening of “Ice and the Sky,” alumni experience sharing, Kahoot activities, and a Q&A session, aiming to inspire and prepare students and faculty for international academic engagement.
